EXPERIENTIAL FIELD TRIP: TISers Become “Little Farmers”

The field trip to the High-Tech Agricultural Park left TIS Primary School students with more than just joyful memories with their friends. It was also a meaningful opportunity for them to gain hands-on experiences, practical knowledge, and many exciting lessons along the way.

From the “Tomato Garden” to a Lesson in Teamwork

At the “Tomato Garden” station, TISers were divided into small teams and challenged to count the number of tomatoes.

What seemed like a simple activity created an opportunity for students to practice teamwork, strengthen each member’s sense of responsibility, and develop an awareness of how to care for plants throughout the activity.

Through each challenge, students not only worked together to complete their team’s task, but also learned to observe, share, coordinate, and take responsibility for their collective work.

Being Careful in Every Vegetable Bed

At the “Vegetable Garden,” under the guidance of their teachers, TISers had the opportunity to harvest lettuce themselves.

Their little hands became especially careful as they gently handled each vegetable bed. Through this experience, students gained a better understanding of how vegetables grow and developed a greater appreciation for the hard work behind the food we enjoy in our daily meals.

This is also one of the lessons TIS seeks to nurture through experiential learning: when students have the opportunity to do things themselves, they can better understand and appreciate the value of things that may otherwise seem familiar and ordinary.

The “Mushroom Journey” Continues at TIS

One of the most special experiences of the field trip was the activity at the “Mushroom Garden.”

Here, TISers had the opportunity to create their own “home” where mushrooms could grow. The activity went beyond simply learning how to grow mushrooms; it also allowed students to experience the importance of patience, care, and responsibility throughout the growing process.

Most importantly, after the field trip, students brought their mushroom-growing kits back to school to continue observing and caring for them, beginning a new “Mushroom Journey” right here at TIS.

Making Their Own Salad – Growing a Love for Greens

At the “Green Kitchen” station, TISers continued their hands-on journey by preparing their own salads together with their friends.

Through this activity, the school encouraged students to develop the habit of choosing and eating more vegetables, while also helping them understand that a healthy diet is an important part of taking care of their overall well-being.

At TIS, student health is always one of the school’s key priorities because when children are healthy, they are better able to learn, explore, and develop to their fullest potential.

Planting Rice to Appreciate Every Grain

At the final stop of the journey, TISers experienced rice planting firsthand.

After working directly in the rice field, students gained a deeper appreciation of the hard work of farmers. This experience helped them understand the value of labor and appreciate every grain of rice on their plates each day.

Despite the sunny weather, the smiles of our “little farmers” remained bright throughout the journey.

Through this field trip, TIS hopes that our students have gathered small but meaningful experiences that will stay with them as they grow.

The lessons of perseverance, care, personal responsibility, and teamwork that our little TISers experienced today will continue to grow with them, just like the mushrooms they brought back to school.

We look forward to seeing our TISers again in many more meaningful and enriching activities ahead.

And remember – eat plenty of green vegetables!
